American Airlines has just announced a new flight from Miami to this paradise destination.

Last week, the first direct flight from the United States mainland to the British Virgin Islands was launched. This makes it easier to reach the pristine beaches of the islands for the summer.

Travel + Leisure and the Beef Island Tourism Board shared that the new American Airlines flight will be available daily from Miami. This three-hour flight is the first direct route to the islands for mainland Americans. Travelers no longer need to go through Puerto Rico or St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

"This is the first time in history that a flight has completely sold out in such a short amount of time, and we are grateful that American Airlines has partnered with us to bring this long-awaited service to fruition, bringing ease and accessibility to our treasured destination," the British Virgin Islands Premier Natalio Wheatley mentioned in a statement. "Miami is the ideal hub to attract more North American travelers to the Sailing Capital of the World!"

The new route is seasonal, and will operate until August 14, before stopping for the fall. It will then resume in November. According to government estimates, the new route is expected to bring in more than 2,100 passengers per month.

Each day, the flights will leave Miami at 10:07 am and arrive at the island at 12:06 pm. Flights will depart from the island at approximately 1:47 pm and return to Miami at approximately 4:25 pm. American Airlines also added extra flights for several dates in June.

The British Virgin Islands are made up of over 60 islands and cays, and lie just east of Puerto Rico. The main airport of the British Virgin Islands, Terrence B. Lettsome, is situated on Beef Island just off Tortola's coast and connected via a bridge.

American Airlines has launched a number of new routes in time for the summer. The airline brought back several flights to Dublin from the U.S. earlier this year.
